Airsoft Support Guns

Every great push needs someone laying down the lead. The support gunner is the heartbeat of a coordinated team, pinning the enemy in cover with a relentless stream of BBs while the rest of the squad moves. Heavy, loud, and impossible to ignore, an airsoft LMG turns one player into a wall of suppressing fire.

We stock airsoft support guns built for exactly that role, including the Raven Evolution NEO LMG46 and the M249-style LMG249-P AEG. Fed by huge box magazines and built to keep firing, these are the guns that keep heads down and let your team win the ground. Browse the support gun range below.

The role of the support gunner

A support gun does one job better than anything else on the field: suppression. By pouring a constant volume of BBs into the enemy’s position, the support gunner stops them peeking, shooting, or moving, which lets the rest of the team flank or advance under cover of that fire. It is one of the most important and most team-focused roles in airsoft.
It is not a run-and-gun job. A good support gunner thinks in terms of the squad, picks firing positions with a wide arc, and works closely with the players they are covering. When it clicks, a single LMG can dominate an entire lane.

High-capacity box magazines

What sets a support gun apart is capacity. Where a rifle feeds from a magazine holding a couple of hundred rounds at most, an LMG runs from a box magazine holding several thousand BBs. That huge reserve is exactly what the suppression role demands, letting you keep firing long after a rifleman would be reloading.
Most box mags are electrically wound at the press of a button or sound-activated to feed automatically as you fire, so the BBs keep flowing without you having to think about it.

The platforms we stock

The Raven Evolution NEO LMG46 is a capable, skirmish-ready support weapon that delivers the high rate of fire and capacity the role needs without the extreme weight of some larger LMGs. The LMG249-P brings the iconic M249 SAW look that so many support gunners want, a recognisable platform that delivers the classic light machine gun experience on the field.
Both are AEG-powered, so they offer the reliability and easy running costs of an electric gun in a high-capacity support package.

Is a support gun for you?

A support gun suits the team player who enjoys enabling others as much as racking up hits. It is heavier than a rifle and demands a more static, considered style of play, but the impact you have on a coordinated team is huge. If you love being the engine behind a push, this is your role.
If you would rather stay mobile, a standard electric AEG rifle may suit you better. You can also browse the full airsoft assault rifle range. As always, solid-coloured replicas need a valid UKARA defence or a two-tone finish.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many BBs does an airsoft LMG hold?

Support guns feed from box magazines that typically hold several thousand BBs, far more than a standard rifle magazine. This huge capacity is what allows the support gunner to lay down sustained suppressing fire without constant reloading, which is the whole point of the role.

Are support guns good for beginners?

Support guns suit team-focused players more than complete beginners. They are heavier than rifles and reward a static, coordinated style of play, working best when you communicate closely with your squad. A new player is usually better starting with a rifle to learn the game, then moving into the support role once they understand team tactics.

Do box magazines feed automatically?

Most box magazines are either electrically wound with a button or sound-activated, feeding BBs automatically as you fire. This keeps the gun supplied during sustained fire so you can focus on suppression rather than winding the magazine. Always keep it topped up and charged before a game.
