The advantage of the Tokyo Marui standard

One of the best things about owning a Hi-Capa is magazine compatibility. Because Tokyo Marui set the dimensional standard for the platform years ago, most brands build their magazines and pistols to match. That means a Hi-Capa magazine from one brand will very often work in a Hi-Capa pistol from another, giving you far more choice and easier access to spares than almost any other platform.
There are occasional exceptions with proprietary or compact frames, so it is always worth a quick check, but broad compatibility is one of the Hi-Capa’s biggest strengths.

Standard versus extended Hi-Capa mags

Hi-Capa magazines come in standard and extended forms. Standard mags, like the WE and Raven spare magazines, sit flush with the grip for a clean, realistic look and balanced handling. Extended magazines, such as the WE extended and Vorsk extended mags, protrude below the grip to hold more BBs and gas, giving you fewer reloads and a little extra to grip on a fast draw.
Both feed and function identically, so the choice is down to your preference for capacity versus a flush, tidy fit.

Keeping your Hi-Capa mags healthy

Like all gas magazines, Hi-Capa mags rely on rubber seals that need to stay lubricated. A drop of silicone oil on the fill valve now and then, and storing the mags with a little gas left in, keeps the seals supple and prevents the leaks that come from letting them dry out. Looked after, a good Hi-Capa magazine will last for years of skirmishing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are all Hi-Capa magazines compatible with all Hi-Capa pistols?

Mostly, yes. The Tokyo Marui standard means most brands build to the same dimensions, so Hi-Capa magazines generally cross over between brands. There are occasional exceptions with proprietary or compact frames, so confirm compatibility if you run a less common model, but the platform is famously well supported.

What is the difference between standard and extended Hi-Capa mags?

Standard magazines sit flush with the grip for a clean look and balanced feel, while extended magazines protrude below the grip to hold more BBs and gas. Extended mags mean fewer reloads and a bit more to grip on the draw, but standard mags look more realistic. Both function the same way.

Why is my Hi-Capa magazine leaking gas?

The usual cause is a dry or worn seal. Keep the fill valve and seals lubricated with silicone oil and store the magazine with a little gas in it to stop the seals drying out. If a leak persists after lubricating, the fill or output valve may need tightening or replacing.
