Description

If you have been keeping an eye on the Milsim scene lately, you will know the SIG MCX is the current king of the hill. But for a long time, gas blowback players were stuck with systems that just couldn’t handle a bit of typical UK cold. That changed with the Salvo Precision MCX 13.1″ UKSF Hunter. By building this around the legendary Tokyo Marui MWS Z-System, Salvo has created a rifle that actually works when the temperature drops.

This specific G104-3E model is finished in the UKSF Hunter configuration. It is not just another tan rifle; it is a calculated mix of black and flat dark earth accents designed to mimic the high-end setups used by UK Special Forces. If you want a primary that looks as good as it shoots and offers that tactile, heavy recoil, this is the one.

A Guided Tour of the Salvo Precision MCX 13.1″ UKSF Hunter MWS GBBR

Starting at the muzzle, this version comes with a dedicated tracer suppressor as standard. It uses a 14mm CCW thread, so it is easy to swap, but having a tracer-ready unit in the box is a massive bonus for anyone playing late-afternoon games or at indoor CQB sites. It gives the rifle that aggressive, suppressed profile that is iconic to the MCX platform.

The 13.1-inch handguard is a standout feature. It is a full-metal M-LOK rail system that offers plenty of space for your PEQ boxes, torches, and grips without adding unnecessary bulk. Because it is a modular system, you can keep the rifle slim and lightweight. On top, the continuous Picatinny rail is perfect for running a red dot and magnifier combo, giving you that authentic UKSF Hunter look.

The heart of the rifle is the metal receiver, housing the MWS gas blowback engine. Everything here is about realism. The bolt cycles fully with every shot, and the bolt catch is functional, meaning the gun stops firing when the magazine is empty—exactly like the real thing. The tan accents on the lower receiver and controls give it that distinct “Hunter” aesthetic that sets it apart from standard MCX kits.

At the back, we have the folding Magpul-style stock. It is incredibly sturdy with zero wobble when locked open, but it folds away instantly. This makes the MCX 13.1″ surprisingly easy to transport in a smaller rifle bag and much easier to handle when you are clearing tight rooms.

Under the Hood: MCX 13.1″ UKSF Hunter Internals & Performance

The performance here is all down to the Z-System internals. This is widely considered the best gas blowback system in airsoft because of its gas efficiency and durability. Unlike older gas designs, the Z-System is built to prevent the bolt from wearing down over time, and it cycles incredibly fast.

Out in the field, this translates to a rifle that can keep up with your trigger finger without freezing. In our testing, even on rapid fire, the FPS stayed remarkably consistent. The hop-up is fully adjustable and, when paired with 0.30g BBs, provides a very flat and predictable flight path out to 40 or 50 metres.

Compatibility & Upgrades

One of the biggest selling points for the Salvo MCX Hunter is magazine compatibility. It uses standard Tokyo Marui MWS M4 style magazines. This means you can use the standard 35-round mags, the 89-type mags, or even the newer polymer style MWS mags from brands like Guns Modify.

Because it is an MWS-based system, the upgrade potential is nearly endless. You can swap out the inner barrel for a tight-bore, change the hop-up bucking for even more range, or install a heavier recoil spring if you want even more kick. It is a platform that can grow with you.
